    "Essence Magazine and its popular Essence Music Festival have pacted with Music World Entertainment head Mathew Knowles to create a new series of CD and DVD compilations featuring featured artists and performances from the Essence Music Festival, according to Billboard.com.

    The first release in the series, titled Essence Music Festival, Volume I, will be sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores nationwide from June 17th through July 28th. After those dates, the CD will also be available at all retailers as well as many digital retailers online.

    The first volume of the series will feature studio music from 2007 festival lineup artists, including Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Common, Robin Thicke and Maze featuring Frankie Beverly.

    Knowles is the father and manager of Beyonce and Solange, as well as the manager of many other artists. " [source]

    "Academy Award-winning actress/former "American Idol" contestant Jennifer Hudson will release her debut album, a self-titled affair, in September via Arista Records. The first single, "Spotlight," will impact U.S. radio outlets on June 9 and be available for sale via digital outlets the following day.

    "Spotlight" was written by Ne-Yo, who co-produced along with Stargate. Additional contributors on the album include Timbaland, Robin Thicke, the Underdogs, Diane Warren and Christopher "Tricky" Stewart, among others." [read more]
